The next Bull City Open Streets of the year will take place in North East Central Durham.  Driver Street will be closed to cars but open to the people, food trucks,  music, dancing, zumba, and bike repair. “The street party that moves.”

In May 2010, we piloted Bull City Summer Streets and over 1,100 Durham residents came out to play, walk, run, bike and dance.  It was such a success that there will be FOUR Bull City Open Streets events in 2011!  Our kick-off was held on May 1st in conjunction with the Earth Day festival.

Bull City Open Streets follows a tradition of events that began with Bogota, Colombia’s ‘ciclovia.’ Every Sunday, seventy miles of Bogota’s streets are opened to biking, walking and physical activity. American cities from New York to San Francisco now enjoy regular open streets. Bull City Open Streets is one of the first such events in North Carolina.
